Akshay Kumar sparks controversy after making sexist and derogatory remark on Mallika Dua
The Toilet aek prem Katha actor, Akshay Kumar, came under firing end after he made a sexist comment on one of his co-workers in his show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, Mallika Dua.
In a leaked video, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge had a moment where Akshay Kumar tells Mallika Dua, “Mallika Ji aap bell bajao, mein aapko bajata hun”. The offensive and sexist comment didn’t go down well with Mallika or her father, veteran journalist Vinod Dua.
Vinod Dua, in a Facebook post called, called the actor Akshay Kumar a “cretin” and condemned his language and sense of humour in no uncertain terms.
Vinod Dua’s post, which was deleted later, reads:
“I am going to screw this cretin Akshay Kumar for telling his co-worker Mallika Dua that ‘Aap bell bajao, main aap ko bajata hun’ (You ring the bell, I will bang you)… This is his sense of humour and language… Star Plus… Wake up”.
Mallika Dua too had condemned the comment on social media about being made to feel “uncomfortable” at her workplace, and asked her followers if they find this kind of humour charming or entertaining.
“Hey! Quick question. Does anyone find 5:26 funny? Charming? Entertaining? Family entertainment. GEC”
She tweeted:
So, I want humour to be limitless. I also don’t want to be uncomfortable at my work place 🙁 The lines are blurred. Thoughts?
Since the controversy, both Mallika Dua and Vinod Dua had deleted the post on Akshay Kumar’s comment.
At the time of writing this article, Akshay Kumar has refrained from making any comment on the controversy.
