Salman Rushdie stabbing: Kangana Ranaut condemns attack, says ‘shaken beyond words’

13 August, 2022 (New Delhi): Indian origin British-American writer Salman Rushdie was murdered in New York on Friday. After the attack, Rushdie was taken by helicopter to the hospital where he is in critical condition. Salman’s agent Andew Willey has told that he lost one eye, sustained multiple injuries to his hand and his liver was also damaged in the attack. After this barbaric attack on Salman, people from all over the world including Bollywood have criticized.

The reaction of many Bollywood celebrities has also surfaced on social media against the attack on Salman Rushdie. Sharing the picture of a news clipped in her story, Kangana wrote, ‘Another day and another disgusting act of jihadis. The Satanic Verses is one of the best books of its time. I am so shaken inside that I cannot say anything. Very disgusting work.’

Bollywood’s famous lyricist Javed Akhtar has also called this attack a ‘barbaric attack’. He wrote, ‘I condemn this barbaric attack on Salman Rushdie by some fundamentalists. I hope the New York police and courts will take strict action against the attackers. Javed’s wife actress Shabana Azmi also condemned this attack and wrote, ‘The cowardly attack on Salman Rushdie is condemnable. I hope he recovers soon and the hardline killer will be given the harshest punishment.

Actress Swara Bhaskar, who is vocal on most of the issues, has also condemned this attack. She wrote, ‘Condemn the shameful, condemnable and cowardly attack on Salman Rushdie and wish him a speedy recovery.’

Meanwhile, after the attack, the New York Police have told that the name of the person who attacked Salman Rushdie is Hadi Matar, who is 24 years old and a resident of New Jersey. The reason for his attack is not yet known and he has been taken into custody. Let us inform that after the release of Salman Rushdie’s 1988 book ‘The Satnic Verses’, many Islamic organizations including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khomeini had issued a fatwa against him. Some Muslim organizations call this novel an insult to Prophet Muhammad.
