Academy Awards applaud Chris Rock for his patience, resilience after getting hit by Will Smith

The Academy has given a formal apology to Comedian Chris Rock after actor Will Smith punched him during the show. Academy also praised his handling of the situation after Smith hit him hard and humiliated him abruptly. FYI, Chris Rock was presenting an Oscar and began by joking about Will Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett’s bald hair head after which the actor marched onto the stage and slapped him. Rock carried on presenting, announcing the nominees for and winners of the Best Documentary Feature. ” Mr. Rock, we apologize to you for what you experienced on our stage and thank you for your resilience in that moment,” the Academy said in an official statement.

After the contentious fight between Rock and Smith, Will Smith won the oscar in the best actor category for his movie King Richards. Also, Chris responded to Will Smith’s slap and said, “Will Smith smacked the s**it out of me.” After his attacker walked back to his seat. He added, “That was the greatest night on television.” Many Hollywood stars have praised Chris for his patience during the Academy Awards. Later after winning an Oscar, Will Smith apologized to Rock in tears and said that he reacted as a crazy father and craziness comes out of love.

FYI, The joke that outraged Will Smith even though he was laughing when Chris Rock made that joke was referred to his wife Jada Pinkett’s shaved head; she has a disease named alopecia which causes hair loss. “Jada, I love you, can’t wait for GI Jane 2,” Mr. Rock quipped in an unscripted moment. GI Jane is the character Demi Moore played in a 90s movie of the same name and in which, as a Navy SEAL, she wears her hair in a buzz.

Meantime, Comedian Chris Rock has begun a sold-out comedy tour that saw ticket sales jump after Slapgate. At his first show in Boston, Rock has received a standing ovation and said that he is still processing what happened”. Many famous Hollywood stars including late-night chat show hosts, like Jimmy Kimmel, and many on social media have also praised Chris Rock for keeping calm and carrying on patience in a very outrageous moment. However, one section is supporting Will Smith eloquently.
