You don’t need a college degree to work at Tesla: Elon Musk
Elon Musk, the Tesla CEO, sad “Yes” on being asked if didn’t require potential employees to have college degree.
Musk answered echoed with German automotive publication Auto Bild, “There’s no need even to have a college degree at all, or even high school,”. Musk said on being asked whether he considered which college a job applicant attend when evaluating a potential Tesla candidate, “If somebody graduated from a great university, that maybe an indication that they will be capable of great things, but it’s not necessary the case. If you look at Bill Gates or Larry Ellison, Steve Jobs, these guys didn’t graduate from college, but if you had a chance to hire them, of course that would be a good idea.”
Musk told he looks for “evidence of exceptional ability’ rather than degree from prestigious university. “If there’s a track record of exceptional achievement, then it’s likely that that will continue into future,” Musk said.
Musk told that to interview a candidate he asks them to summarize their career and ask them how they solved some of the hard problems they’ve faced. And to make sure about the truth of the information Musk ask detailed information about the problems, this ensures that the things described by the candidate are real.
Musk himself has an undergraduate degree in physics and economics from University of Pennslyvania.
