Woman Arrested for Allegedly Killing Boyfriend’s Son in Delhi

Delhi Police Crime Branch has apprehended a 24-year-old woman, identified as Pooja, on charges of murdering her boyfriend’s 11-year-old son. The tragic incident unfolded in West Delhi’s Ranhola. Pooja is reported to have strangled the young boy while he was asleep, later concealing his body within a bed box before fleeing the scene.

The arrest followed a thorough investigation, during which Pooja admitted her involvement in the crime. She and her partner, Jitender, were in a live-in relationship, and Pooja believed the child was hindering their relationship due to his connection with Jitender’s first marriage.

The grim incident came to light on August 10, 2023, when BLK Hospital alerted Delhi Police about a lifeless boy with visible strangulation marks around his neck.

Police scrutiny of CCTV footage pinpointed Pooja as the last visitor to the victim’s home. Her movements were closely monitored as she changed hideouts, finally leading to her capture in Bakkarwala.

Investigations revealed a tumultuous backstory: Pooja was once married to the father of the deceased child, Jitender. However, Jitender had previously assured her of obtaining a divorce from his first wife. Dishearteningly, Jitender later chose not to proceed with the divorce and resumed living with his initial spouse.

Enraged by this turn of events, Pooja allegedly committed the heinous act on August 10. The case has resulted in a charge under section 302 IPC, as per Delhi Police. The tragic incident highlights the complexity of relationships and the dire consequences of emotional turmoil
