Why WhatsApp head Abhijit Bose resigned from his post?

16 November 2022 (New Delhi): WhatsApp is one such media were the world has connected digitally, people living near or far is connected through this. In today’s time, WhatsApp has become the reason for people to stay connected with each other, But would you believe that, WhatsApp India Head Abhijit Bose and Meta India Public Policy Director Rajeev Aggarwal has resigned from the company.

Social media company Meta gave this information on Tuesday,but its reason is not yet known. Abhijit Bose was appointed as the first country head for WhatsApp in 2019. He was roped in drive WhatsApp’s payments business as well as expand the messaging app’s reach in India. At the same time it is also known that earlier this month, Ajit Mohan, the head of Meta in India, had stepped down from his role. Soon it was announced that he was joining rival Snap as president,Asia-Pacific.


Earlier in September, Moneycontrol had reported that Manesh Mahatme, head of WhatsApp’s payments business in India, has resigned from the company after a tenure of about 18 months. These resignations have come to the fore at a time when Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp and Facebook, announced on November 9 to lay off about 11,000 people from the company.
Shivnath Thukral, Director of WhatsApp Public Policy in India, has now been made Director, Public Policy for all Meta brands in India. Talking about WhatsApp head Abhijit Bose, there is no information about who will replace him after his resignation,but soon someone will be appointed in his place. The company said Aggarwal has decided to step down “to pursue another opportunity”. “Over the last year, he has played an important role in leading our policy-led initiatives in areas such as user-safety, privacy and scaling up programmes like GOAL to drive digital inclusion in the country.However, it is not yet clear why Bose resigned and what’s his upcoming project in pipeline.
