After four days of nail-biting suspense over the US Elections 2020 results, Joe Biden finally emerged victorious defeating Donald Trump. Joe Biden will be the 46th President of the United States. Now the question arises is What’s next for Donald Trump ??
Donald Trump, who defied political gravity with his extraordinary rise from reality star and businessman to the presidency has fallen back to earth.
As Biden was declared the winner, and the streets around the White House erupted in celebration, Mr. Trump was filmed hitting balls around the golf course.
If one thing the world knows about Trump is his love of the limelight. He may lose his keys to the White House but not his login on Twitter, Where he can still wield powerful control over his Republican Party. Donald Trump is expected to remain the de facto head of a party until a successor emerges to lead Republicans which is not likely until the resolution of 2024 Republican primarily. Some of his close aides also speak of Trump planning for another shot in 2024.
Former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney said with understatement that Trump who has refused to concede and made unsubstantiated claims of widespread fraud – “doesn’t like losing”. He further added “I would absolutely expect the president to stay involved in politics. I would absolutely put him on the shortlist of people who are likely to run in 2024”
While some people believe that Mr. Trump’s constant railing against “fake news ” has laid the groundwork for a possible move into a media space.US outlets such as Fox and the Week have speculated that Trump might launch “Trump TV” while others have flagged a return to real estate, where he made his name and fortune.
Donald Trump had previously mulled aloud the possibility of leaving the country if he loses elections which will be a huge step to take.
Trump camps also have to face long odds in his legal challenges which will require Trump to win multiple suits in multiple states to stop vote counting as Trump had earlier filed lawsuits for recounting of votes in several states.
Well In the meantime it still remains unclear whether Trump will accept the results of the election or continue to contest them as he spends the next three months as a lame-duck president.
