However over recent years, this auspicious day has turned out to be a colossal brunt on the standard living norms. As the celebration spring into full glory, we hustle into burning crackers and causing health hazards and air pollution.

Pollution is a big issue in the present-day world and has many bad effects on the health of people especially in the Novel Coronavirus period. So, all we can do is increase self-awareness and try to find more eco-friendly ways to celebrate our festivals.

Here is how to celebrate an Eco-friendly Diwali

  1. Organic Rangoli Colours

Rangolis are a huge part of Diwali Celebrations. Pretty and colorful designs make our houses look beautiful, but synthetic colors are dangerous for the environment and unhealthy when inhaled and cause some serious health issues. Can we just open for Rangolis that can be made using flowers or use eco-friendly colors that do not cause harm to our surroundings? Also, organic colors are easily available in the market.

2. Don’t buy firecrackers

Diwali without crackers is a no-go for many especially children But these noisy firecrackers cause a lot of distress to the elderly small children and animals and environmental pollution which are injurious for our health. One way to solve this problem is by celebrating Diwali by using eco-friendly crackers made from recycled paper or green crackers.

3. Use Oil Diyas and LED lights instead of Candles

Diyas can be used multiple times to our taste and requirements and are made from earth-friendly material. Try avoiding the painted ones as they have chemical colors smeared over them. Candles, on the other hand, are for one-time use, require energy in their creation, are petroleum-based, and release toxins during burning to affect the air quality. If you want to use electric illumination, opt for LED lamps or Diwali lights. They use at least 80 percent lesser energy than the regular ones.

4. Gift a plant sapling in this Diwali instead of carrying packed Sweets

Gifting a plant on Diwali to your loved ones, employees, business associates, or clients is a wonderful thought. Plants make a lovely Diwali gift and a token of remembrance that will last in the memories of the receiver for a lifetime. Plants make a strong bond of affection, care, and humanity amongst all. Green Gifting comes with advantages like reducing carbon footprints, increasing work or home efficiency, enhancing the aesthetic appeal, and creating a green value.

5. Reduce Plastic Use

During the Diwali Celebration, one thing that gets everyone excited about is Diwali Shopping. However, Shopping means a lot of plastic bags. Let’s say ‘No’ to plastic shopping bags and use cloth bags when going out for shopping.
