Wagh Bakri Tea Group’s Parag Desai Passes Away at 49 After Street Dog Attack

Parag Desai, who played a crucial role at Wagh Bakri Tea Group, known for the popular Wagh Bakri tea brand, has passed away at the age of 49. He is survived by his wife Vidisha and daughter Parisha.

Tragically, Desai suffered a brain hemorrhage on October 15 after being attacked by street dogs while attempting to leave his residence. A security guard alerted his family, and he was promptly taken to Shelby Hospital for immediate care. After a day of observation, he was transferred to Zydus Hospital for necessary surgery, according to sources.

Desai passed away on October 22 at a private hospital in Ahmedabad

After battling for seven days on a ventilator, Desai passed away on October 22 at a private hospital in Ahmedabad, as reported by The Times of India.

His final rites took place at the Thaltej crematorium at 9 a.m. today, as stated in the Ahmedabad Mirror report.

Parag Desai was the son of Rasesh Desai, Managing Director of Wagh Bakri Tea Group. With over 30 years of experience in entrepreneurship, Desai oversaw the company’s sales, marketing, and export departments. The company boasts a turnover exceeding ₹1,500 crore.

A prominent figure in the tea industry, Desai was an active member of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and various other organizations. The Wagh Bakri website pays tribute to Desai as “an expert tea taster and evaluator,” highlighting his MBA from Long Island University, USA.
