Vadodara creates a new Guinness world record in cleanliness drive

The Municipal Corporation of Vadodara, the tenth cleanest city of India, today created a new Guinness world record regarding most people sweeping the floor with over 5000 people doing so in groups of 50 in a length or over one kilometer on Akota-Dandiyabazar road in the city.


Guinness world record officials also issued a certificate of the new record setting to the VMC today.

The earlier record in this regard was with 1767 people, was in the name achieved by Drinks Depot (Mexico), in Mexico city, Mexico made on 26 February 2017.


Mayor Bharat Dangar said that in all 5058, people participated in the record breaking feat.He also added that the certificate issued by the Guinness committee also mentioned that the event was witnessed by 50,000 people which has also created a record.


“Most people sweeping the floor (single venue) was achieved by Vadodara municipal corporation in Vadodara, Gujarat, and the attempt was witnessed by 50,000 people on May 28, 2017,” stated the certificate.

Though, the programme was a tribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
