Harmanpreet Kaur, the ace left handed batsman in the Indian women’s cricket team, wore jersey number 84 in most of the bouts. The number was randomly selected by Harmanpreet. The rationale behind donning jerseys with the particular number is to express the solidarity with the victims of 1984 Anti-Sikh riots.
Harmanpreet Kaur has not shied away from paying tributes to the victims of the communal riots. According to reports, she dedicates her success to those who were massacred in the communal violence four decades ago.
In the recently contested Women’s World Cup drew massive applause from her home state Punjab, along with rest of India. Her 171-run unbeaten knock against Australia in the semi-final drew her unprecedented amount of fame.
