‘Thank you, Taker’: Tributes pour in for the Undertaker

For the final time in his career, The Undertaker walked down to the WWE ring at Survivor Series. The Undertaker said goodbye to WWE fans at Survivor Series,30 years after he made his debut at the same event.

The DeadMan remained in his character on his Final Farewell and delivered a small message for the WWE universe. One of the most iconic superstars of all time, The Undertaker seemed to be emotional during the segment and received a big applaud from the live online audiences.

A number of WWE legends were present at the Thunderdome to celebrate the occasion. Kane, The Undertaker’s on-screen brother, JBL, Big Show, Shane McMahon, Jeff Hardy, Mick Foley, The Godfather, The Godwinns, Savio Vega, Rikishi, Kevin Nash, Booker T, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, and Triple H made the segment a star-studded affair.

With the Phenom’s friends and rivals assembled, we were treated to a video package celebrating his 30-year career, set to Metallica’s “Now That We’re Dead”. Some of the men in the ring were interviewed in the package, and Batista, John Cena, and Stone Cold Steve Austin joined to speak on Taker’s unparalleled legacy.

When we returned to ThunderDome, Vince McMahon was alone in the ring to pay tribute to his most loyal employee. The Chairman brought out the Dead Man by saying that we often hear nothing last forever, but Undertaker’s legacy will.

With a mic in hand, he spoke over the mix of streamed and pre-recorded fan ovation:

“For 30 long years, I’ve made that slow walk to this ring and have laid people to rest time and time again. And now my time has come. My time has come to let The Undertaker rest in peace.”

He tipped his hat and struck his signature pose a hologram of Paul Bearer appeared before him. Then he lowered his head as his signature gong sounded. The Dead Man rose as the lights brightened, did his throat-slashing gesture, and walked back up the ramp. He peered over his shoulder, then flung his fist in the air as lightning filled the big screen above him.

Legendary WWE Superstars took to their social media handles to acknowledge and pay their tribute to the legacy of The Undertaker.

A WWE veteran, The Undertaker is a seven-time World Champion, six-time Tag Team Champion, and one-time Royal Rumble Winner. The DeadMan built a memorable Wrestlemania streak of 21-0 before it was broken by Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 30.

Undertaker ended his Wrestlemania career at,25-2. In his farewell match The American Badass The Undertaker beat Ajay Styles at Wrestlemania 36 in a Boneyard match.

Earlier, On the final episode of the Last Ride in June 2020, The Undertaker had announced his retirement from WWE.
