“Supreme Court to Hear Arvind Kejriwal’s Interim Bail Petition Today”
The Supreme Court is set to deliver its verdict today on the interim bail plea of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal amidst the ongoing money laundering case filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) related to the Delhi excise policy.
A bench led by Justice Sanjiv Khanna hinted at the possibility of deciding on Kejriwal’s interim relief during a session on Wednesday, informing the ED counsel, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, of this potential outcome.
Kejriwal was apprehended by the ED on March 21 in connection with the money laundering investigation linked to alleged irregularities in the now-defunct Delhi excise policy for 2021-22.
Earlier discussions in the court had suggested that interim bail might be granted to Kejriwal to facilitate his participation in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
However, the court also indicated that if interim bail were granted, Kejriwal would be prohibited from performing any official duties as the Chief Minister of Delhi.
