South Korean actor Lee Sun Kyun passed away on Wednesday (December 27). He was 48 years old. The actor was found dead in his car. He gained special recognition across the world with his acting in the film Parasite. The actor was reportedly found unconscious in his car in Seoul’s Seongbuk district and was declared dead after investigation. Local police suspect suicide, according to reports from South Korean news agencies. He was being investigated in a drug abuse case.
Several South Korean news agencies have confirmed the news of Lee Sun Kyun’s death on X. He was facing investigation for suspected drug use. According to a report by Soompi, police received a call from a woman who said that her husband left the house after writing a suicide note.
Later, the police confirmed that it was none other than Lee Sun Kyun. Police have said that their identity has been confirmed. The report said police found evidence of burnt charcoal briquettes inside Lee’s car. For this reason, the police are suspecting his suicide.
The news of the actor’s death comes a day after he denied knowingly consuming drugs. He was accused of illegal drug use in October and has been under investigation since then. Lee Sun Kyun has been associated with the South Korean film industry for many years.
He acted in many films. Parasite was one of his biggest films. This film was also successful in winning the Oscar. He also starred in My Mister, Coffee Prince My Sweet Seoul, Miss Korea and A Hard Day.
