Sikkim Flood: 28 Army personnel missing after the sudden cloud burst in Sikkim

A sudden cloudburst over Lhonak Lake in North Sikkim caused flash floods in the Teesta River in Lachen Valley. Some military installations in the valley have been affected and more details are awaited. According to information received from sources, due to the release of water from Chungthang Dam, the water level downstream suddenly increased to a height of 15-20 feet. Due to this, army vehicles parked at Bardang near Singtam have been affected. 23 soldiers are reported missing and some vehicles are reported submerged in mud. The search operation is going on.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang took stock of the situation in Singtam. BJP leader Ugyen Tsering Gyatso Bhutia said that there was no loss of life or property in Singtam, but there was huge damage to public properties. There is also information about some people going missing. Efforts are on to find them.
