#Shameful: Lady IPS in tears after UP CM Yogi Adityanath confidante rebukes her publicly.
IPS Charu Nigam, posted in Gorakhpur, broke down earlier in the day following an argument with BJP MLA Radha Mohan Agrawal. The BJP legislator, as seen in the video footage going viral, told the young officer “don’t cross your limits”. Following the verbal spat, Nigam, was seen wiping her tears.
The incident occurred after the BJP MLA was called at the spot by locals, who were protesting against the sale of illicit liquor in the locality. After the demonstrators had reportedly blocked a road near Koilhwa village, the police authorities launched a lathi-charge to disperse them off.
The use of force to disperse the protesters had irked Agrawal, who launched a verbal tirade against the police officials. “People were peacefully protesting against the liquor shops, but the woman police officer forcibly removed the protesters and while doing so, she hit a woman and dragged an 80-year-old man. This simply cannot be tolerated,” the legislator was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Agrawal further accused the local police of working hand-in-glove with the liquor mafia of the region. A liquor shop closed 15 days ago has been turned operational due to the compliance of police, the BJP lawmaker alleged.
In the video footage, the BJP MLA is heard saying, “Aapse baat toh mai kar nahi raha hu.. aap koi nahi hai mujhe batane wali. Chup rahiye. Bardasht ke bahar mat ho jao tum. (I am not speaking to you… You are no one to explain me. Stay quiet. Don’t cross your limits).”
The IPS officer replied, “I am in-charge of this place. The law and order was being violated. I understand what I am doing.”
Following the heated conversation, Nigam’s senior arrived at the spot and spoke to the BJP MLA about the ruckus which was created. The journalists, however, followed Nigam as she went aside and wiped her tears.
The 2013-batch IPS officer was posted in Gorakhpur for training. In her tenure, she has earned the tag of ‘Lady Singham’ for the manner in which she discharged her duties in Chambal, known as the yard of dacoits. Following her exemplary performance in Chambal, she was posted in Gorakhpur, part of the crime-ridden region of Poorvanchal.
