Severe cold and dense fog has caused delay to more than 50 flights and 80 trains.

More than half of the country has not got respite from the severe cold and dense fog. There was dense fog in the morning in 20 states and union territories including Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh to Sikkim, West Bengal, Meghalaya and Manipur. Monday was the coldest day of this season in Delhi. The minimum temperature dropped to 5.3 degrees Celsius.

Train and flight services were also affected across the country due to dense fog. In Delhi alone, the arrival and departure of 80 trains has been affected. These trains ran late by one to six hours. These include trains like Bangalore-Nizamuddin and Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani, Kanpur-New Delhi Shramshakti, Prayagraj-New Delhi Express, Amritsar-Mumbai Express.

At the same time, more than 50 flights were also affected. The scheduled arrival and departure time of these flights was delayed by 15 to 30 minutes. Union Home Minister Amit Shah was to go to Jammu, but due to bad weather, his visit was also cancelled.

Due to fog and cold winds on Monday morning, Delhi’s minimum was recorded at 5.3 degrees, which was two degrees less than normal. This is the lowest morning temperature in the month of January this year. Earlier in the month of December, the minimum temperature had gone below five degrees. Since then, due to cloudy weather, an increase in the minimum temperature was recorded. Till a day ago, the minimum temperature of Delhi remained above normal. There was fog since Monday morning. It was cloudy throughout the day. Due to lack of sunlight, there was a chill throughout the day.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, New Delhi, the sky will be partly cloudy on Tuesday. There may be light fog in the morning. There is a possibility of very light rain or drizzle during the day and evening. During this period, the maximum temperature is expected to be around 17 degrees and the minimum temperature is expected to be around six degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather may clear after the rain. It is estimated that there may be an increase in the minimum and maximum temperatures of Delhi. Light to moderate fog is expected to prevail in Delhi till January 14 in the morning. However, the maximum temperature may rise to 19 degrees and the minimum temperature may rise to eight degrees by January 11. After that the minimum temperature is expected to drop. There is a possibility that it may fall by two degrees by January 14.
