19 January 2023 ( New Delhi ) : Shah Rukh Khan is all set to make a comeback with his much-awaited film Pathan, which has been creating buzz since its inception. While Pathan’s team may have refrained from interacting with the media ahead of the film’s release, the hype for the film, which stars Deepika Padukone as the leading lady, hasn’t subsided. Now as per the latest report, Pathan has minted Rs 1 crore in advance bookings in just 5 hours across limited theaters in India, Shah Rukh Khan’s action drama has beaten the boycott trend. With this, Pathan has become the fastest film to achieve this milestone.
Advance bookings for Yash Raj Films’ Pathan will open across India on Friday, January 20. But, the studio opened the pre-sale on Wednesday afternoon in select theaters in major cities across India. Prasad’s in Hyderabad was the first theater to open IMAX bookings, followed by several other theaters in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Kolkata, Bangalore and a few other cities.
Analysts expect the numbers to grow even faster on Friday when advance bookings open for all regions and theatres. The highest advance booking figure for any Bollywood film in the post-pandemic era is the Rs 17.71 crore earned by last year’s Brahmastra. Pathan looks ready to cross so easily. The total record for a Bollywood film is in the name of War, which earned Rs 32.50 crore in advance booking. Trade experts say that Pathan should cross this figure as well.
When the makers removed the film’s first song ‘Besharam Rang’, Pathan courted an even bigger controversy, prompting not only audiences and haters but politicians to demand a ban on the film.Where Shah Rukh Khan starrer Besharam Rang and Deepika Padukone’s while the controversy surrounding the ‘saffron’ outfit has engulfed social media, it seems that Pathan still managed to collect huge sums in its pre-sales ahead of its release in theatres.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, Pathan is a spy-thriller starring Shah Rukh in the lead role. The anticipation for the film is high as Shah Rukh is returning to the big screen after four years in a lead role. The film, which is part of the YRF Spy Universe, also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. It will be released in theaters on January 25. According to the reports, Pathan has earned more than Rs 500 crore till now. 1 crore advance booking in its pre-sale within hours.
