It has already been 2 years since COVID -19 entered our world. People are still not able to process what happened with us in the past two years. Not even one but we faced two terrible COVID -19 waves. Many people lost their lives and their loved ones in this corona pandemic. Most of the businesses, families, and homes are destroyed. Even the education of children was badly affected. The unemployment rate has also increased. This all has left a long-lasting pain and grief in the mind and hearts of people.

Now, the situation was getting better after the worldwide production of two famous corona vaccines- COVAXIN & COVIDSHIELD. We were all relieved that now we are safe as the number of corona patients was also decreasing and the recovery rate was increasing.

Scientists in South Africa have identified a new variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that is the trigger for the surge in cases in the country. The B. 1.1.529 variant carries a high number of mutations in its spike protein, which is the area that assists the virus’ entry into the human body.

Researchers are still trying to find whether this variant could be more lethal and transmissible than the currently circulating variants. The World Health Organization has named this variant of concern Omicron. It joins the alpha, beta, and delta variants in the list of variants of concern.

Now all over the world is in concern as it might spread again. The third wave is on its way. But this time it is important to take precautions and stop the new corona variant to enter India because precautions are better than cure. We can not afford to lose more lives this time.

Recently on Twitter Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, requesting our Prime Minister Modi to stop flights from countries that are affected by new variant. As per the recent reports, it is speculated that PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji has chaired a review meeting for the COVID19 situation and related matters.

We hope that our government will take strong and preventive measures to save our nation from this deadly corona variant.
