Note books, notes and answer sheet: A sight in Bihar’s Ara college
The scene at Veer Kunwar Singh College in the town on Friday made a mockery of the examination system in the state and reminded of the 2015 images of Class X examinees of state board at a Vaishali school that had gone viral on social media and brought a bad name to Bihar. The college is affiliated to Veer Kunwar Singh University, Ara.
Hundreds of BA Part-II examinees of Maharaja College and Paihari Ji Maharaj College, New Police Lines, Ara, sat on the floor of the college veranda on Friday with books, notes and guess papers to write their Physics paper. Their pictures went viral on the social media sites on Friday afternoon.
VKSU examination controller Sanjay Kumar Tripathi said the physics paper examination of the centre has been cancelled.
VKSU vice-chancellor Syed Mumtazuddin said he immediately sought a report from the centre observer and ordered the cancellation of the examination of about 300 students, who were found involved in mass copying while sitting on the college floor. The re-examination of the paper would be held on September 20, he said.
When contacted, the principal, Paramhansa Tiwari, said the college has a sitting capacity for about 2,300 examinees only, but the university allotted the centre to about 4,400 examinees. He said some students sat on the floor because of the scorching heat outside. Tiwari said as soon as he came to know about it, he arranged benches for all the examinees.
Lamenting the lack of infrastructure in the college, the principal said the institution gets little financial aid and support from the university and it had to buy desks and benches from its internal resources recently. The principal, however, denied that the examinees used unfair means at the centre.
