With most people stuck at home due to the Covid-19 outbreak, streaming video apps help us beat the lockdown blues. In dire times like these, YouTube is an easy way to keep yourself entertained. However, the global population was in for a shock as the Youtube service went down in the morning hours of Thursday.
Youtube faced a massive technical glitch due to which users were unable to watch content on the online platform. The glitch was such that if one opens the website, it loads just fine, but individual videos will either show the buffering/loading wheel or a dead screen with the ‘an error occurred’ message.
YouTube services were down for over an hour and the users across the globe stirred a storm on social media seeking help and asking others if they have been facing the same issue. Soon, Netizens set the social media abuzz by starting the hashtag #YouTubeDown on Twitter.
Check out their Reactions-
Responding to the outrage, Team YouTube tweeted, “If you’re having trouble watching videos on YouTube right now, you’re not alone- our team is aware of the issue and working on a fix. We’ll follow up here with any updates.”
The video-sharing platform then later announced on Twitter that the services have been normalized.YouTube team said “And we’re back – we’re so sorry for the interruption. This is fixed across all devices & YouTube services, thanks for being patient with us,” they said later.
As per some reports, the service bounced back at around 8:30 PM ET, and users were then able to play videos on YouTube.
To recall, this isn’t the first time that YouTube or Google’s services went down or suffered an outrage globally. Just a few months ago, almost the entire Google service was down for hours and that created issues for users around the world.
