MS Dhoni continues to rock stump commentary; refers ‘Cheeku’ to Virat Kohli in 2nd ODI vs New Zealand
MS Dhoni might no more be the skipper of the Indian team, but the wicketkeeper-batsman continues to provide valuable inputs to bowlers and fielders from behind the wicket.
Not just bowlers, but skipper Virat Kohli too is often seen reaching out to the Ranchi batsman for his suggestions which mostly work in India’s favour.
During the 2nd ODI between India and New Zealand, Dhoni was once again seen sharing his inputs with the team. On two occasions, he also sought suggestions from Kohli while referring to him as Cheeku.
“Cheeku, do-teen jan ko idhar chhor de (Cheeku, keep 2-3 fielders here),” Dhoni was heard telling captain Virat Kohli as Kedar Jadhav bowled.
Dhoni was also heard asking Kohli whether he should re-set the field.
“Cheeku, ek ball aur rakhegaa, (Cheeku, will you keep it for a delivery more). Ek ball jo pehle rakhaa tha mein catch ke liye (A delivery ago as I had placed it for a catch).”
Men in Blue restricted the tourists for 230/9 in 50 overs – a target they chased down successfully with 24 balls and six wickets remaining.
Opener Shikhar Dhawan top-scored with 68 and Dinesh Karthik remained not out on 64 down the order as the hosts reached the 231-run victory target with four overs to spare at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. Men in Blue will now take on Black Caps in the third and final ODI on October 29.
