MP Varun Gandhi raises serious concern over swift suspension of Sanjay Gandhi Hospital based in Amethi

The Amethi health department, which had suspended the license of Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Munshiganj, run by the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Trust, of which Congress leader Sonia Gandhi is chairperson. The decision was taken after a 22-year-old patient died at the facility allegedly following an overdose of anaesthesia.

Varun Gandhi wrote a two-page letter to Deputy CM Brijesh Pathak raising few general issues over the shutdown of Sanjay Gandhi hospital. In his letter, he wrote, “shutting down the whole facility over the mismanagement is not right, thorough investigation needs to be conducted and culprits should be punished. Not only Amethi, the near by districts are also dependent on this hospital for primary treatment.”

There are more than 450 employees working for the hospital, their livelihood is also in danger and along with them thousands of family members life will also be affected if hospital services are not resumed. I request government to conduct impartial investigationof the whole case and make sure hospital continue to provide the critical healthcare facility to the people of Uttar Pradesh.
