According to reports, Kartik Aaryan recently got an offer from a pan masala brand, which he has turned down. The cost of this ad is reportedly being said to be Rs 9 crore. According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, Kartik Aaryan has turned down a tempting offer to endorse Paan Masala. When the outlet checked the news with a leading advertising guru, he confirmed it saying, “It’s true.
Kartik Aaryan has said no to the endorsement of Paan Masala worth around Rs 8-9 crores. Looks like Kartik has principles, which is quite rare among today’s actors. Today everyone is just looking for opportunities. Saying no to such big money is not easy. But Kartik is conscious of his responsibility as a youth icon.”
Former censor board chairman and producer Pahlaj Nihalani also lauded Kartik Aaryan’s decision to not endorse harmful products. “Pan masala is killing people. Being encouraged by Bollywood role models to take gutkha and pan masala is definitely injurious to the health of the country’s youth.”
At the same time when senior superstars, Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar, who know better, are selling cancer (aka gutkha, pan masala) to the nation, Kartik Aaryan has definitely turned down the lucrative offer. Pahlaj also revealed that airing of liquor and pan masala advertisements is illegal and unconstitutional. “The law prohibits CBFCs from giving certification to advertisements of pan masala and liquor. Therefore, advertisements broadcasting these products are illegal. Actors who are part of such advertisements should know that they are participating in an illegal activity.”
A few months back, Akshay Kumar came into limelight after facing controversies for promoting a pan masala company. The actor took to Twitter to apologize to his fans, saying that he will be more cautious about the products he promotes in the future.
