A total of 2,615 candidates have filed nominations for the election. Of these, ADR has evaluated the election affidavits of 2,586 candidates. This report has been prepared on the basis of this. According to this, out of 2,586 candidates, 581 i.e. 22 percent are facing criminal cases. In these too, 404 candidates have faced serious allegations. Of the 1,087 contesting elections, 42 candidates have assets of one crore or more. The average assets of the candidates are Rs 12.56 crore.

Congress is also ahead in giving tickets to millionaires. 97 percent of Congress candidates are crorepatis. 96% of BJP, 82% of JDS, 51% of Aam Aadmi Party, 56% of NCP, and 33% of CPM candidates have assets of one crore or more. 24% of candidates contesting as independents are also Crorepatis.

1. Yusuf Sharif: Yusuf Sharif, who is contesting as an independent candidate from the Chickpet assembly constituency of BBMP Central district, is the richest candidate in Karnataka. Yusuf has a total wealth of Rs 1,633 crore. It has movable and immovable assets worth Rs 85 crore.
2. N Nagaraju: N Nagaraju, who is contesting on a BJP ticket from the Hosakote constituency in Bengaluru Rural, is the second richest candidate in Karnataka. Nagaraju has total assets of Rs 1,609 crore. It has movable and immovable assets worth Rs 536 crore.
3. DK Shivakumar: Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar is the third richest candidate in the state. Shivakumar has total assets of Rs 1,413 crore. It has movable and immovable assets worth Rs 273 crore.
