IPL 2023: Class 9 dropout Rinku Singh, who previously worked as a sweeper, becomes KKR’s Baazigar

10th April 2023 (New Delhi):In the upcoming IPL 2023, Rinku Singh is one of the most talkedabout uncapped players as the devoted cricketer from Uttar Pradesh is improving thanks to his efforts for Kolkata Knight Riders.

On Sunday, April 9, the left-handed 26-year-old hitter hit five sixes in the final over of the game against Gujarat Titans to lead KKR to an unlikely victory, producing one of the IPL’s most dramatic victories in its illustrious history.

When 29 needed to be scored from the final over, Rinku got to the strike on the first ball, and what happened next will live on in cricket fans’ memories for a very long time.As Rinku unleashed her beast mode and smashed smashes all over the pitch, Gujarat Titans pacer Yash Dayal appeared lost with the ball.

The young bowler was under so much strain after being blasted for a hat-trick of sixes that he ultimately gave up two more sixes.

Rinku – who has played for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) – has been making the right noises for his current IPL side, KKR. The cricketer from Aligarh was first bought by KXIP at his base price in IPL 2017 but didn’t get an opportunity to make his debut in the premier domestic T20 competition.
He has been doing exceedingly well for Uttar Pradesh in the domestic circuit and is one of the key members of the state side. Hailing from a humble background, Rinku Singh’s fortune started changing after KKR bought the youngster for Rs 80 lakhs during IPL 2018 mega auction.

With his current IPL team, KKR, Rinku, who formerly played for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), has been sounding the appropriate notes. The Aligarh player was first acquired by KXIP at his base price during IPL 2017, however he was unable to make his debut in the top domestic T20 league.

He is one of the major players on the state side and has been performing incredibly well for Uttar Pradesh in the domestic circuit.Rinku Singh, who comes from a lowly background, began to change after KKR purchased the teenager for Rs 80 lakhs during the IPL 2018 mega auction.

Before to the IPL 2022 mega auction, the franchise released him; nonetheless, the team acquired him for Rs 55 lakh. One of the best fielders in the IPL, Rinku, looks up to former India cricketer and legendary Chennai Super Kings player Suresh Raina.Raina, a three-time IPL champion with CSK, has closely observed Rinku’s development. It’s noteworthy to note that Rinku made his Uttar Pradesh debut while Raina was captain.

Rinku Singh Family Background

His father distributed LPG cylinders from door to door while his elder brother drove an autorickshaw. He grew up living in a two-room quarter with nine members of his family.
“Father used to earn some Rs 6-7 thousand monthly, as he was the elder brother. My family is a bit big and I had no option other than to focus hard on cricket,” Rinku said told Indian Express.

At one point, Rinku himself had a sweeper job. He failed his class 9 exams, left school, and concentrated on his cricket instead. He was focused on leaving his impact on the sport.

IPL 2022 saw the rise of Rinku Singh.He was utilised as a filler prior to IPL 2022 and was never able to hold down a regular berth in the KKR side. He was usually on the pitch for KKR, though, thanks to his excellent hands.
He has previously made some excellent outfield catches.IPL 2022 proved to be a turning point for Rinku as he established himself as a complete cricketer. His performance on the pitch and his appearance with the bat both mirrored the confidence displayed by the club management.

Rinku had the opportunity to participate in KKR’s eighth match of the season against Gujarat Titans after the team lost three consecutive games the season before.

A few games later, Rinku helped KKR get back on track after losing five straight games with an unbeaten knock of 42 off 23 balls against Rajasthan Royals. He also took two catches.

At the end of the IPL 2022 season, he had even won the admiration of departing KKR head coach Brendon McCullum, who was very complimentary of Singh.McCullum, who has since taken over as head coach of the England Test team, declared in his farewell post-game news conference as KKR coach that the team will aggressively invest in Rinku and that the player will pay it forward.

“Absolutely he (Rinku) sure has (been the find of the season). Rinku is a player who KKR will invest in, no doubt, over the next few years and we will see him really progress and may even challenge for higher honours in time,” McCullum stated last year.
