India’s 17-year long wait ends as Manushi Chhillar wins Miss World 2017
India’s Manushi Chhillar was on Saturday won the prestigious Miss World 2017 title at a glittering ceremony in China’s Sanya city.
India made it! Congratulations. After 17 years we have won Miss World Ltd crown.
Her achievement comes 16 years after Priyanka Chopra won the title at the 2000 pageant.
The runner’s up went to Miss Mexico Andrea Meza. Miss England Stephanie Hill was declared the second runner-up at the event held at Sanya City Area.
The 20-year-old from Haryana, born to doctor parents, competed with more than 100 contestants from across the world to win the crown.
A trained Indian classical dancer, Manushi also enjoys painting and hopes to open a chain of non-profit hospitals in rural areas, according to the Miss World website.
“Thank you, everyone, for your constant love, support,” and prayers she wrote on Twitter. “This one’s for India.”

Manushi studied at Delhi’s Thomas School and Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women in Sonepat, Haryana but she dropped MBBS to win title of Miss World.
