In a significant display of opposition unity, leaders from the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) came together for a joint rally in Patna, Bihar. The rally, named “Jan Vishwas Maha Rally,” witnessed prominent figures such as Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Lalu Prasad, Tejashwi Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav, and senior Left leaders Sitaram Yechury and D Raja addressing the crowds.

Notably, this event marked Lalu Prasad’s first public rally in nearly nine years. Rahul Gandhi, highlighting Bihar’s pivotal role in shaping national politics, emphasized that transformations often originate from the state.

He also reiterated the opposition’s stance of promoting love amidst a climate of hatred perpetuated by certain political quarters. Criticizing the incumbent government, Gandhi accused the Narendra Modi administration of favoring a few wealthy individuals while neglecting marginalized communities.

The rally, attended by over a hundred thousand people, served as a platform for the opposition to express solidarity, especially in light of recent political maneuvers, such as Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s alliance shifts. Various leaders targeted Kumar, questioning his ideological strength and praising Tejashwi Yadav’s job creation efforts during his tenure. Lalu Prasad, in particular, launched scathing attacks on Kumar, labeling him a “turncoat.”

He urged Bihar’s voters to wield their electoral power against the ruling BJP. Tejashwi Yadav, responding to Modi’s remarks, defended his father’s legacy and challenged the PM to prevent Kumar from changing alliances again.

Akhilesh Yadav stressed the importance of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in shaping the national electoral landscape, suggesting that defeating the BJP in these states could significantly impact the party’s prospects at the national level.

Despite criticisms from BJP spokespersons labeling the rally as a failure, opposition leaders used the platform to underscore their commitment to challenging the ruling party and promoting their agenda of inclusive development.
