Gujarat: Unseasonal heavy rain took lives of more than 20 people: Know More

20 people have died in incidents of lightning during unseasonal rains in Gujarat. Officials released this figure on Monday. Home Minister Amit Shah expressed grief over the incident. He said that the local administration is engaged in relief and rescue operations. An official of the State Emergency Operation Center said that incidents of lightning were recorded in different areas of Gujarat. Many people have died in these.

Maximum four people lost their lives in Dahod, Gujarat. Three people have died in Bharuch, two in Tapi and one each in Ahmedabad, Amreli, Banaskantha, Botad, Kheda, Mehsana, Panchmahal, Sabarkantha, Surat, Surendranagar, Devbhoomi Dwarka.

According to officials, apart from the loss of crops, the ceramic industry in Morbi district of Saurashtra has also suffered huge losses as factories here were closed due to heavy rains.

The Meteorological Department has said that rain on Monday will be less and will be limited to southern areas of Gujarat and Saurashtra. It is reported that the reason for the unseasonal rain is the cyclonic storm in the north-east Arabian Sea, which is affecting the areas of Saurashtra and Kutch.
