Government Failed Again: 21 Peacock Found Dead In The Forest Of Madhya Pradesh
Its look like the government is falling on every front to take any meaningful action against Peacock poachers. As the new case of the same comes into light in which 21 peacocks were found dead in Sumawali forest in Madhya Pradesh.
“On the prima facie, it looks like the peacock is killed for their valuable assets, the feathers.” Said the police who was present at the spot. “We will conduct the investigation and will nab down the people who all are behind this”
This is not the first case where peacocks were found dead in the country. In Kanpur, six peacocks were found dead. On July 9, 2015, around 24 peacocks found dead in Rajasthan’s Ajmer district.
The hunters have no other way but to kill the bird to obtain its feather to fetch good money. According to the wildlife protection Act, if the peacock’s feathers shed naturally is legally allowed in the country.
The national bird of India is on a target for a very long time now for their feathers. However, the laws to protect the national birds seem to have failed as the number has continuously gone up over the years. A report that was published in World Wildlife Fund (WWF) has stated that the number of peacocks in India, from the time of independence, has gone to 50 percent.
