First clean-up campaign organised by Tibet at Mount Everest
Himalaya is a place, where everyone wants to go in our holidays and want to spent most of our valuable time over there so that we can cherish those memories over there.
But when we leave the place, there are several things which we throw randomly over there which destroys the beauty of Himalayas.
From throwing the beer bottles to empty chips packets.
Owing to this Tibet has launched a massive clean-up campaign across the high-altitude area of Mount Everest from May 6 to remove the waste and debris left by hikers at campsites. It will bea nine-day clean-up campaign by Tibet Autonomous Region across the world’s highest mountain, also known as Mount Qomolangma in the local language
The campsites in question are at altitudes between 5,200 meters and 6,500 meters on the north side of 8,848 meters tall Mount Everest. Heightened human activity had left unacceptable levels of garbage on the “Roof of the World”.
The “Roof of the World” term is used for describing the mountainous interior of Asia region, for the Pamirs, the Himalayas, Tibet and Mount Everest.
The official team, joined by Tibetan and foreign volunteers, had collected four tonnes of trash in the first five days, state-run Xinhua news agency reported today.
Not only this , the Tibet government is also planning to install sorting, recycling and degradation stations at the camping areas. As 60,000 people visit the north face of Mount Everest every year.
