Feminism On Rise: This Women Is Posting Feminist Messages Written On Period Pads All Over Her City
“Imagine if men were as disgusted with rape as they are with periods” a tweet inspired a girl Elonë, a woman in Karsruhe, Germany, to grab the attention towards gender equality and elimination of rape culture through the most controversial medium – period pads.
She chose International Women’s Day (March 8th) as the perfect day to reveal her message. She wrote clear messages on sanitary napkins and pasted them on the streets of her city which struck hard in heads of the anti-feminism. Some of the most popular photos have been shared thousands of times.
Elonë has already gained much attention of supporters and critics from around the globe because of her explicit messages. Where some got inspired to apply her project in their own cities, others bombarded her with criticism on which she insisted that her message is one of “equality, not men hate.”
In response to some abusive messages on her Tumblr page, she said: “Why the f*** did you just get offended? Because of period pads?”She also mentioned that she donates period pads to the homeless women in her local area.
