Female Elephant dies because of heat-stroke in Odissa!
In the row of increasing deaths of animals amid scorching heat wave, yet another case was reported from Odisha’s Sambalpur. An elephant was found dead under the Rengali Forest Range. The elephant’s body was later sent for a post-mortem. Several cases of the deaths of fauna have been reported from across the nation as the mercury has risen above 40 degrees Celsius in most parts.
Forest department staff, who reached the spot after getting information from villagers, said the pachyderm’s age was likely in between 10 and 15 years.
Though it is suspected that the elephant died of sunstroke, the exact cause of death could be ascertained only after post mortem, forest officials said.
