Farmers bang vessels for ‘Thali Bajao’ protests during the broadcast of PM Modi’s Mann Ki Baat.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed the 72nd and 2020’s last edition of his radio program ‘Mann ki Baat ‘, farmers protesting against the Centre’s farm laws carried out ‘Thali Bajao’ protests by clanging plates and vessels during the PM’s monthly Mann Ki Baat broadcast.

The protest took place at three spots -Singhu Border, Faridkot in Punjab, and Rohtak in BJP ruled Haryana.

The ‘Thali Bajaao’ protest during the Prime Minister’s address was announced by Swaraj India chief Yogendra Yadav last Sunday.

Making the announcement, Yogendra Yadav had said, “On December 27 when the Prime Minister gives his Mann Ki Baat radio address, farmers will say ‘we are tired of listening to your Mann ki Baat, when will you listen to our Mann ki Baat?’ So we will bang utensils so that the noise of his Mann ki Baat doesn’t reach us.”

The clanging of plates and clapping was the replay of earlier PM Modi’s idea to felicitate the front workers battling coronavirus as the lockdown started.

The Thali Bajao concept was initially introduced by the Prime Minister when he asked countrymen to unite and felicitate healthcare workers and those involved in the battle against the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the protesting farmers stayed put at their agitation venues near Delhi which is going through a harsh spell of winter, unrelenting bin their demand of withdrawal of the legislation.

The farmers had reached the Singhu border over a month ago. The protesting farmer unions had on Saturday decided to resume their dialogue with the centre and proposed December 29 for the next round of talks. They had also decided that a tractor march will be held on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal highway on December 30.
