Eknath Shinde wins trust vote in Maharashtra Assembly

July 5, 2022 (New Delhi): The Eknath Shinde government in Maharashtra has won the trust vote in the assembly. 164 votes were cast in favor of the Shinde government while the opposition got only 99 votes. On the other hand, another MLA from the Uddhav camp went to Eknath Shinde’s side and voted in favor of the government. When the voting was going on in the house, the opposition MLAs also raised slogans of ED-ED.

After voting, Aaditya Thackeray along with other Shiv Sena leaders went back. During the voting in the assembly, 22 MLAs were not present. These include 10 MLAs from Congress, 2 from Samajwadi Party, one each from AIMIM and NCP. Congress MLAs were late in reaching the assembly. Let us tell you that the election for speaker was held on Sunday, in which Shiv Sena’s candidate got 107 votes, while BJP’s candidate Rahul Narvekar got 164 votes.

At the same time, before the floor test, Uddhav camp MLA Santosh Bangar joined Shinde camp and voted in favor of the government. During the speaker’s election on Sunday, Santosh Bangar had voted in favor of Shiv Sena’s candidate Rajan Salvi. When the MLAs of Shinde faction were voting in the house, during that time the opposition MLAs were raising slogans of ED-ED.

During the trust vote, Pratap Sarnaik supported Eknath Shinde, while the opposition MLAs also raised slogans of ED, ED. Pratap Sarnaik is facing a money-laundering probe by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). He had last year asked Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray to form the government with the BJP and wrote to his leaders to save them from action by central agencies. ED slogans were also raised during Yamini Jadhav’s voting, as Yamini Jadhav’s husband Yashwant Jadhav is facing ED investigation.
