A 26-year-old woman has accused her boyfriend of allegedly trying to run her over with his SUV in Thane. She got seriously injured due to this. It is being told that the accused is Ashwajit Gaikwad, son of a senior bureaucrat from Maharashtra.
The victim, Priya, is a professional beautician. Priya has shared this in a social media post. This incident happened on 11 December. The police had registered a case against the accused Ashwajeet and two others at Kasarvadavali police station under various sections.
According to a report, Priya has written in the post, ‘I want justice. Convict Ashwajeet Anil Kumar Gaikwad is the son of Anil Kumar Gaikwad, joint managing director of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation. In her post, she also named Ashwajeet’s friends, Romil Patil, Prasad Patil and Sagar Shelke, all Thane residents, besides her boyfriend’s driver-cum-bodyguard, Shiva. Priya has written, ‘My boyfriend ran his car over me and left me on the road to die.’
Police said the incident took place near a hotel on Ghodbunder Road at around 4.30 am on Monday. The woman had come here to meet Ashvajit Gaikwad. An argument started between the two. Later, when the victim got down from the car and started leaving, the person driving the vehicle tried to run her over, due to which she fell and got seriously injured.
The officer further said that the victim shared information about the incident on social media. The victim is undergoing treatment. She further said that Gaikwad is the son of a senior bureaucrat from Maharashtra. Speaking to the media, a senior police officer has denied the allegations made by the victim in her social media post. He said the incident is under investigation and no one has been arrested so far.
