The day when it took only 3 minutes for Yuvraj to create world record
Everything changes with the passage of time, but some memories remains forever. Ten years ago, on this day September 19th, Indian star left-handed batsman hit 6 sixes in six balls on the England lead bowler Stuart Broad at Kingsmead during India-England match of the first ICC World Twenty20 championship in South Africa.
This all round performer is commended every year on this day for his splendid innings. Yuvi’s reminiscent victory was celebrated round the nation, but last year it was something different. Yuvi did not seem to be happy last time because of the loss of soldiers in Uri attack.
Reflecting back on the day when he was asked about his experience of that golden day he says, “It’s been 10 years since the six sixes; it’s been a long time. I still feel just as young. It’s been a long journey but the memory of that day is quite fresh in my heart. It was really a great day.”
Yuvi created the history by becoming the first batsman to hit 6 sixes in ICC T20 International matches. And thus, he seems to cherish this moment of his life.
Now the question which arises is what made the performance special for Yuvraj. Was it the bad form which he was running from or he has to save his place in Indian side?
During the T20 match, Yuvi had a heated altercation with England’s Andrew Flintoff just few minutes later Yuvi came to bat in 18th over of India’s inning. Yuvraj hits 6 sixes back to back in Broads over. He admits that it was the fight which led to six sixes but very sweetly he says, ‘It was unplanned but not impulsive. I treated each ball on its merit and somehow it all fell in place.”
