1 October 2022 (New Delhi): The BJP’s organizational ranks from Uttar Pradesh are set to be deployed in poll-bound Gujarat. According to top BJP sources, at least one person from Uttar Pradesh will be deployed in each of Gujarat’s 33 districts where elections are scheduled for later this year.

The stationed seats had faced defeat in 2017 elections

As per sources, the UP unit has been assigned 64 assembly seats, with two organizational leaders, primarily district presidents and general secretaries, taking charge. According to reports, Uttar Pradesh BJP vice president Prakash Pal has already been asked to camp in Gujarat. Many of the seats where BJP workers from Uttar Pradesh have been stationed were won by the Congress in the 2017 Assembly elections. While the BJP won 99 out of 182 seats to secure the majority, the Congress won 77. The two UP state parties, the BSP and SP, ran for 139 and four seats respectively, but all of their candidates’ deposits were forfeited.

Schedule will be finalized after notification announcement

SP – ran for 139 and four seats, respectively, but all of their candidates’ deposits were forfeited. The UP BJP’s proposed political strategizing in Gujarat gains significance in light of the saffron party’s plans to paradrop senior leaders, including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, to launch a high-pitch campaign there. “The campaign schedule of senior party leaders from Uttar Pradesh will be finalized once the election notification for Gujarat is announced,” a senior BJP leader said.

BJP will adjust dozens of ex congress’s MLAs

Because the BJP does not want to take any chances, it may deny tickets to at least one-third of its sitting MLAs. “The two most important factors in the selection of candidates are winnability and ability. This is in addition to experience, honesty, integrity, and party loyalty, which will continue to be important factors. The BJP also intends to accommodate nearly a dozen Congress party MLAs who defected to the saffron party after the 2017 elections,” said a BJP source.
