Nawazuddin Siddiqui is one of the most versatile actors in Hindi film industry. The actor has proved his brilliance in movies such as Gangs of Wasseypur (1 and 2), Badlapur, Raman Raghav 2.0 and many others.
As reported by a leading daily, the actor is being considered to play the role of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray.
The sources mentioned that Nawaz has already started pulling of Thackeray’s mannerisms and style. It is reported the announcement will be made on December 21, 2017, in an event in Mumbai and Amitabh Bachchan will also be present at the event.
When the daily contacted the Rajyasabha MP and Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut, who has written the script said, “Come to the first-look launch and all will be revealed.”
Sanjay Raut informed that he has been working on this biopic for four years. He was inspired by Richard Attenborough’s Gandhi and Justin Chadwick’s Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom and thought of making a biopic on Bal Thackeray.
Raut said, “As someone who spent a lot of time with Balasaheb I know there is so much in his life that lends itself to the big screen. Balasaheb was a mass leader and I want this to be a mainstream popular film which will strike a chord with all those who know about him and his struggle.”
Talking about Nawaz, his film Monsoon Shootout, a psychological thriller has released today. The film is directed by Amit Kumar.
Do you think Nawazuddin Siddiqui is the apt choice to play Balasaheb Thackeray’s role?
We are though, more curious to know if Bal Thackeray’s family has no objections to Nawazuddin Siddiqui in playing the role instead of a Maharashtrian actor. While we are sure Nawaz will easily pull off the character, he is a UP-based Muslim – two things Shiv Sena often found objections with going by their aggressive past.
Well, let’s wait and watch until December 21 to see if Nawaz is really playing Bal Thackeray.
