“Authorities Replace ‘Vulgar’ Saraswati Idol at Tripura Government College of Art and Craft After Protests”

A group of raged activist staged a protest at the Tripura Government College of Art and Craft as it purposed vulgarity in an idol of Goddess Saraswati being workshipped on Wednesday morning in the college premises without a saree. However, later the the idol was exchanged from the other one.

The esteemed members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sabgh(RSS) included the affiliated student body Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad(ABVP), the Bajrang DAl and Vishwa Hindu Parishad(VHP) reached the college and protested against the idol of Goddess Saraswati and claimed it to be “vulgur”. Whereas pointed the hurt of the sentiments of indian culture and traditions.

The controversy took place while the puja rituals were taking place and the students of the college were present on the spot. The idol was than replaced with the other one and a saree was draped and was kept for different rituals, but eventually it was replaced.

According to ABVP Tripura state general secretary Dibakar Acharjee led the protest and said in it’s statement that the,” the idol is vulgar and hurts the regional sentiments of the people. We want to know which custom and tradition it followed. We don’t want anyone to hurt the sentiments of the people by violating their traditions and cultures”.

The Issue got the attraction on social media, were the citizens raised it’s voice that the idol is hurting the regional sentiments and shouldn’t have been allowed by the college and the faculty members should not use it.
