Alka Kaushal And Her Mother Gets Two Years Jail Imprisonment For Check Bounce Case.
Television actress Alka Kaushal and her mother upheld for two years jail by Sangrur (Punjab) court in a cheque bounce case by a lower court.
Alka essayed the role of Kareena Kapoor’s mother in Salman Khan starred Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015). She also played Kangana Ranaut’s mother in Queen (2014).
Defence advocate Sukhbir Singh Punia said that Alka and her mum had borrowed Rs 50 lakh from a farmer to make a serial from Avtar Singh, a resident of Langrian village, but did not return his money. When Singh demanded his money, they handed over two cheques of Rs 25 lakh each which were reported bounced.
Singh, who ran a floriculture business and befriended the actress during a shooting, then moved a local court in Malerkotla in 2015, which sentenced the two to two years’ jail.
Alka and her mother then moved the Sangrur court for relief, but the additional sessions judge of the court upheld the lower court’s order on Wednesday.
The actress and her mother are now in Sangrur district jail.
Apart from her Bollywood roles, Alka has also worked in Marathi cinema and several popular Hindi TV shows including Qubool Hai, Swaragini and Kumkum Bhagya.
