Akshay Kumar’s Jolly LLB 2 lands in trouble again, SC to hear plea against HC review order!
You might have thought that the CBFC board would be the biggest trouble for Akshay Kumar‘s Jolly LLB 2 (because they generally have a problem with a lot of things) but looks like the SC is mighty miffed with the film. It has been reported that Supreme Court is very upset with the film’s portrayal of the judiciary system. The SC will hear the plea by Fox Star Studio on Friday, challenging the Bombay High Court order that a three-member committee would hold review of the film ‘Jolly LLB 2’ before its release. The bench headed by Chief Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar agreed to hear the plea by the producer of the film which has contended that there could not be any scrutiny of the movie after film censor board has given it a U/A certificate.
The Bombay High Court had ordered the review of the film after it was told that film shows legal profession in a poor light. The film received a clean chit from the CBFC board as they gave it a U/A certificate. While this good news took place on Sunday, we soon found out that perhaps the release of the film won’t be all that smooth. The bench has decided that they’ll hold a hearing on February 3 and come to a conclusion on this matter. The film is a sequel to Jolly LLB and while the prequel didn’t fall under the scrutiny of the High Court, looks like Akshay’s film has gotten itself in some controversy. This isn’t the first time the film got embroiled in a legal mess.
Earlier, it was reported that a shoe brand in question had sent the makers of Jolly LLB 2 a notice. A daily had stated, “According to the brand, the dialogue is a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of the brand, perhaps on the instigation of its competitors considering the film’s leading man, Akshay Kumar, is the face of the rival brand.” An apology was demanded from the makers and simultaneously the reference of the brand was also asked to be pulled down from the trailer. The notice was sent to Fox Star Studios India, along with executive producer Naren Kumar, company directors Deepak Jacob and Amit Shah, writer-director Subhash Kapoor and actors Akshay Kumar and Annu Kapoor. This resulted in the makers taking necessary steps to avoid further trouble for the film.
Maybe just like how they tackled the ad controversy, this too shall pass. Till then, the makers as well as the actor will stay with their fingers crossed, we suppose. Starring Akshay, Huma Qureshi, Annu Kapoor and Saurabh Shukla in pivotal roles, the film will be releasing on February 10, i.e. next week
