Pakistan Beat Bangladesh by 11 Runs Set Up Asia Cup Final vs India

By Abhishek Kumar

Pakistan kept their hopes alive in Dubai as they edged out Bangladesh by 11 runs in a thrilling Super Four match and sealed a place in the Asia Cup 2025 final against India. The result now sets up another blockbuster clash between the two arch-rivals on September 28.

Batting first Pakistan were in early trouble when Bangladesh’s pace attack struck quickly. Taskin Ahmed led the charge and at 49 for 5 Pakistan looked on the back foot. But Mohammad Haris fought hard with 31 from 23 balls while Mohammad Nawaz added a quick 25. Their cameos proved vital as Pakistan managed to post 135 for 8 in 20 overs. Taskin finished with 3 for 28 while spinners Mahedi Hasan and Rishad Hossain kept things tight.

The chase of 136 was tricky for Bangladesh right from the start. Pakistan’s pacers Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf bowled with fire and kept striking at crucial stages. Shaheen grabbed 3 for 17 and Rauf chipped in with 3 for 33 breaking the backbone of Bangladesh’s batting. Shamim Hossain tried to fight with 30 runs but wickets kept tumbling around him. In the end, Bangladesh fell short finishing at 124 for 9. The contest had its share of drama with Bangladesh threatening in patches but Pakistan’s bowlers held their nerves in the final overs. It was Pakistan’s first win over Bangladesh in the Super Four stage making the victory special.

Now all eyes turn to Sunday where India and Pakistan will face each other for the third time in this tournament. Pakistan have already lost twice to India and the final gives them one last chance to settle scores with the trophy on the line.
