July 25, 2022 (New Delhi): Controversy is increasing over the allegations of Congress regarding the daughter of Union Minister Smriti Irani. The BJP is a constant attacker on the Congress regarding the matter. Now Smriti Irani has sent a legal notice to Congress leaders Pawan Khera, Jairam Ramesh, leader D’Souza and Congress for commenting on her 18-year-old daughter. Smriti Irani asked him to tender an unconditional written apology and to withdraw the allegations with immediate effect. Congress leaders had alleged that Smriti’s daughter was running a bar in Goa illegally. Alleging this, Congress had appealed to PM Modi that Smriti Irani should be sacked from the post of minister.

On the allegations of the Congress, Smriti Irani had announced to send a legal notice to the Congress leaders on Saturday itself. He had said that his 18-year-old daughter is a student of Zoish College first year. She doesn’t run the bar. My daughter’s fault is simply that her mother held a press conference on the loot of Rs 5,000 crore by Sonia and Rahul Gandhi. I will seek answers in the court of law, the court of the people. Continuing his attack on the Congress, he said that the opposition party has publicly insulted his daughter.

Irani’s daughter’s lawyer Kirat Nagra had said that her client neither owns nor operates a restaurant named ‘Silly Souls’. They have not even received any ‘show cause notice’. Nagra said that wrong, malicious and derogatory social media posts are being made by many people with vested interests who are trying to gain political mileage along with his client’s mother, eminent politician Smriti Irani.

Terming the allegations as baseless, the lawyer said, “It is unfortunate that they are spreading false propaganda only to sensationalise the pointless matter without verifying the facts and they are only trying to defame my client.” Willing that she is the daughter of a leader. Congress released a paper claiming that a ‘show cause notice’ was issued to Smriti Irani’s daughter by the Excise Department and the officer who gave the notice was allegedly being transferred.

Congress media and publicity chief Pawan Khera told reporters, “Serious allegations of corruption have been leveled against the family of Union Minister Smriti Irani. A restaurant run by his daughter in Goa has been accused of issuing fake licenses to serve liquor and this is not an allegation made by ‘quoting sources’ or agencies seeking political vendetta, but the Right to Information (RTI). The information received under RTI has been disclosed. He claimed, “Union Minister Smriti Irani’s daughter got ‘bar licenses’ issued by giving fake documents for her ‘Silly Souls Cafe and Bar’.” According to the Congress leader, ‘Anthony DeGama’, in whose name the application for renewal of license was made on 22 June 2022, has died in May last year itself. Anthony’s Aadhaar card showed that he was a resident of Vile Parle in Mumbai. Their death certificate has also been received by the lawyer seeking information under RTI.
