World Environment Day Celebrated at Okhla Bird Sanctuary

Noida, June 5, 2024 — The Forest Department of Gautam Budh Nagar, in collaboration with SheWings, celebrated World Environment Day today at the renowned Okhla Bird Sanctuary. The event highlighted environmental sustainability and saw active participation from various stakeholders.

The celebration began with a Nature Walk, flagged off by Mr. P. K. Srivastava, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Gautam Budh Nagar. This was followed by a cleanliness drive aimed at removing plastic waste from around the sanctuary.

A technical session on the importance of environmental conservation for future generations was also conducted. In his address, Mr. Srivastava emphasized the need for planting trees and avoiding construction activities that could harm the environment. He praised SheWings for their continuous efforts in promoting environmental sustainability and urged everyone to replace plastics with eco-friendly products. “We should plant many plants and refrain from any kind of construction that would harm Mother Earth. Let us all join the drive to conserve the environment,” said Mr. Srivastava.

The event included a felicitation ceremony to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to environmental protection.

K Ganesh, Team Head of Bisleri, expressed a strong commitment to enhancing the Okhla Bird Sanctuary, aiming to make it one of the best in the world. Amit Gupta, Range Officer of Gautam Budh Nagar, announced a massive plantation drive to promote greenery around the sanctuary.

The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks from Range Officer Amit Gupta, expressing gratitude to all participants and contributors.

The Forest Department and SheWings remain dedicated to raising environmental awareness and promoting sustainable practices, striving towards a greener future.
