Security Alert! Mathura tightens the security on Babri Masjid demolition day
Security has been tightened in Mathura on Babri Masjid demolition day to avoid any untoward accident ahead of December 6. As per the officials this was the same day when Babri mosque was demolished in 1992.
Four right wing groups Akhil Bharat Mahasabha, Sri Krishna Janamabhumi Nirman Niyas, Naryani Sena and Sri Krishna Mukti Dal had earlier sought the permission to hold non-traditional programmes on the day.
In order to install Krishna’s idol on deity’s actual birthplace Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha has sought permission from the court and they also demanded that mosque should be closed.
District Magistrate Navneet Chahal has turned them down by saying that question of granting permission for those events that may potentially disrupt the peace could not arise.
According to the other groups Krishna idol would be installed in Shah Idgah only after “jalabhishek” (purification) of the place.
In view of these Mathura is divided into three zones for security purposes, the officials said, adding to the area of Katra Keshav Temple and Shah Idgah has been demarcated as red zone whereas as deployment of the personnel is the highest.
Gaurav Grover, the Senior Superintendent of Police said “Adequate force has also been deployed at every entry point of Mathura.”
He said checking at these entry points must be intensified.
Prohibitory orders of section 144 of CrPC has already taken place in Mathura. This section prohibits assembly of four or more people in area.
The threat to perform ritual inside Shah Idgah comes at a time when local courts are hearing the series petitions from local court for removal of 17th century mosque. According to the Z Hasan, the president of Shah Idgah committee this mosque is living over 50 years in Mathura and always has been found environment cordial and affectionate.
However, petition for shifting of the mosque is still pending in the court and committee members are waiting for court’s earliest decision on it.
