PM Modi Leads 10th International Yoga Day Celebrations in Srinagar, J-K

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the 10th International Yoga Day celebrations at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. During the event, the Prime Minister performed various yoga asanas alongside other leaders, emphasizing the significance of yoga in fostering physical, mental, and spiritual growth. In his address, PM Modi highlighted the importance of Yoga in nurturing holistic well-being and participated in the Common Yoga Protocol session. The event saw participation from notable figures, including Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha and Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Ayush and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav. Over 7,000 individuals from diverse walks of life joined the celebrations on the picturesque banks of Dal Lake.
The Yoga Day celebrations have been an annual tradition since 2015, with Prime Minister Modi leading the events at various iconic locations such as Kartavya Path in Delhi, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Ranchi, Lucknow, Mysuru, and the United Nations Headquarters in New York. This year’s theme, “Yoga for Self and Society,” underscores the role of yoga in enhancing both individual well-being and societal harmony. The celebration aims to bring together thousands in the practice of Yoga, promoting health and wellness on a global scale.
To further the inclusiveness of Yoga’s benefits, Prime Minister Modi had written a letter to all Gram Pradhans, urging them to promote holistic health and make it a people-led movement by spreading awareness about Yoga and millet. This year’s celebrations spanned across the nation, including a notable event titled “Yoga for Space,” where ISRO’s centers and units participated in the Common Yoga Protocol. The Gaganyaan project team also actively participated in the event on June 21, while the observance of International Yoga Day at Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari was in full swing.
Globally, Indian Embassies and Missions abroad joined in the celebrations, reflecting yoga’s widespread influence and its ability to unite people worldwide in the pursuit of health and wellness.
