18 December 2022 (New Delhi): Amid calls for boycott of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Pathan’, Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Girish Gautam has taken a jibe at the Bollywood actor stating that he should watch this upcoming film with his daughter.
“Shah Rukh should watch this film with his daughter, upload a picture and tell the world that he is watching it with his daughter,” Gautam said in a statement.
“This should definitely not be allowed. Will you dish out whatever you feel like? I want to openly say -make one such film on Prophet Muhammad and release it in the name of freedom of expression. There will be bloodshed across the world,” he added.
Earlier, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra had voiced objections to the song “Besharam Rang” in the film.
Stating the “costumes” in the song are “objectionable”, Mishra said the song “reflects a dirty mindset”.
The Home Minister’s statement came two days after the makers dropped the song, which features the film’s female lead Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan, from the film.
The Madhya Pradesh Ulema Board had earlier raised objections to the release of the film in the state.
