“Mangal Pandey: The ‘Forerunner’ of India’s Freedom Struggle” – Dr. Abhishek Verma

Delhi: Shiv Sena’s National Chief Coordinator (NDA) and Election In-Charge, Dr. Abhishek Verma, on the birth anniversary of the great freedom fighter Shaheed Mangal Pandey, said that Mangal Pandey was the “forerunner” of the Indian freedom struggle. He remarked that Mangal Pandey was a brave son of India who made the nation realize that nothing is impossible if we truly desire it. It was because of his sacrifice that the freedom movement gained momentum, ultimately leading to our independence.

While paying tribute to him, Dr. Verma said that Mangal Pandey was the first to sacrifice his life in the struggle for independence, shaking the foundations of British rule. From the very beginning, he had the spirit to raise his voice against injustice. This very spirit of his ignited a sense of self-respect among the people and fueled the movement that eventually forced the British to leave India.

He further added: “To the brave son of Mother India and the torchbearer of the First War of Independence in 1857, Shaheed Mangal Pandey, we offer our heartfelt salutations on his birth anniversary.”

The sacrifice of Mangal Pandey for the service of the motherland will continue to inspire generations to come in the path of national service.
