Actor-director Satish Kaushik passes away at 66; condolences pour in

9th March 2023 (New Delhi): Actor-director Satish Kaushik passed away at the age of 66 due to heart attack on March 9. His friend and actor Anupam Kher shared the news on Twitter this morning. Satish Chandra Kaushik who was born on April 13, 1956, was an actor, director, producer, comedian and screenwriter.


The actor suffered a heart attack on the way to Fortis Hospital in New Delhi. After postmortem, his body will be brought to Mumbai for last rites. Last rites will most likely be performed at his Yari Road, Versova residence in Mumbai, as per his relatives.

After the news of his death, celebs from the film fraternity offered condolences and remembered the moments shared with the actor.

Actor Anupam Kher shared a picture with Satish Kaushik and tweeted in Hindi, “I know “death is the ultimate truth of this world!” But I never thought in my dreams that I would write this thing about my best friend #SatishKaushik while alive. Such a sudden full stop on a friendship of 45 years!! Life will NEVER be the same without you SATISH! Om Shanti!”


Satish Kaushik passes away: Celebs offer condolences

Actor Kangana Ranaut, who directed him in the film ‘Emergency’, tweeted, “Woke up to this horrible news, he was my biggest cheerleader, a very successful actor and director #SatishKaushik ji personally was also a very kind and genuine man, I loved directing him in Emergency. He will be missed, Om Shanti.”

Satish Kaushik will be playing activist and politician Jagjivan Ram in Kangana Ranaut-starrer Emergency. Speaking about the role, Kangana had once said, “Kangana says, “I needed somebody who had Jagjivan Ram ji’s strength, his wit and his sarcasm. Satish ji was an obvious choice.”

Director Madhur Bhandarkar tweeted, “I am so shocked to hear the demise of actor-director Satish Kaushik ji, who was always vibrant, energetic and full of life, he will be missed immensely by the film fraternity & millions of admires, My deepest condolences to his family members.”

Satish Kaushik was born on April 13, 1965, in Haryana. He was an actor, comedian, screenwriter, director and producer. Before finding his break in Bollywood, Satish Kaushik worker in threatre.

After making his debut with Shekhar Kapoor directed Indian drama Masoom, Satish Kaushik subsequently appeared in several critically acclaimed films like Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro (1983), Utsav (1984) and Saagar (1985) before rising to prominence with Mr. India (1987) where he played the role of Calendar. Satish Kaushik has also featured in films like Sajan Chale Sasural (1996), Deewana Mastana (1997), Brick Lane (2007), Kaagaz (2021) among others.
